The City of Mount Pearl is beginning the first of four phases of asphalt and concrete repairs for the 2025 construction season. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality infrastructure, ensuring the safety of road users, and extending the lifespan of our streets, sidewalks, and curbs.

These upgrades are an important investment in Mount Pearl’s infrastructure. Smoother roads, safer sidewalks, and improved drainage will benefit residents, businesses, and visitors for years to come.

What's Happening?

Over the next few months, crews will be:

  • Removing and replacing sections of asphalt to provide a smoother driving surface.
  • Replacing damaged or uneven sidewalk sections to improve safety and accessibility.
  • Removing and replacing curb and gutter to enhance drainage and extend the lifespan of the surrounding infrastructure.

Traffic Impacts

Lane reductions will be in place, with traffic reduced to one lane in affected areas. Flag persons will be on site to direct vehicles safely through the work zones.

No detours are planned for this phase; however, motorists should expect some delays, particularly during peak travel times. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, slow down, and follow the directions of traffic control staff to help keep everyone safe.

Safety and Accessibility

Safety is a top priority for this project. Crews will follow strict protocols to protect both workers and the public. Pedestrians are asked to use caution around construction areas and follow any posted signage or temporary walkways.

For your safety, do not enter construction zones. Even if a site appears inactive, crews and equipment may be operating at any time.

Please follow all posted signage and the directions of traffic control staff. Your cooperation helps keep both workers and the public safe throughout the project.

Next Steps and Updates

Updates about future phases, including locations and timelines, will be shared through this channel.

The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and road users during construction and thanks everyone for helping to keep work zones safe.
